Description

<P>The TZ88 digital linear tape drive extends the DLT family to new levels of capacity, with up to 40 GB of capacity per cartridge. With this new level of capacity, high-end workstations, as well as network servers and systems, now have enhanced unattended backup/restore and archival capabilities. When combined with the high reliability and industry-leading data integrity of DLT capabilities, the TZ88 is a true heavy-duty tape drive for Hierarchical Storage Management, image/multimedia storage, archiving, near-online storage, and unattended backup applications. It supports a transfer rate of up to 2.5 MB per second and over 9 GB per hour, which meets or exceeds the requirements of most systems and server installations. The TZ88 tape drive provides read/write support for the existing CompacTape III product, as well as the new CompacTape IIIXT, and CompacTapeIV media. The TZ88 provides full data interchange capabilities to the Tx85, Tx86, and Tx87 subsystems. The TZ88 is not read compatible with older tape formats, such as the TZ30, TK50, and TK70 products.</P>
